A year ago this month, I started teaching for the first time at one of the public schools along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Moss Point High School students begin class tomorrow. Two and a half weeks off! Nice!! Just long enough to get pregnant.
Today was my second day back, and I finished setting up my room about 9 p.m. My problem is I keep wanting to change things up, thinking I haven't reached them consistently yet, so let me try something different... when all along the reason I'm failing is because I keep changing things up. By fail, I mean, have poor classroom management. I was called down to the office. This is the third time... the first two times resulted in write-ups for being late to duty and for leaving early to a doctor appointment.
I never got in trouble when I was a student. It wasn't until I became a teacher that I was written up. Teaching Geometry, I now appreciate, is third or fourth on the list of teacher priorities. That list coming soon...
