Mississippi: MISS-SIPPI. How bout that. We've all spelled Mississippi with one "i" but did you know she was still single? It's Miss, not Mrs/Mississ.
Gautier: GO-SHAY. A city due east of Ocean Springs. Six years of Frech class and I was still way off.
New Orleans: N'AWLINS. i.e. I was gnawin' on short ribs in N'awlins.
L.A.-"Lower Alabama." Not to be confused with L.A.
No See'ums- A pesky, invisible bug. But you know it's there when it bitesya!
There's fixin to come a goodin' - "It's about to storm."
Pecan: P'CAHN. It's nutty.
White Gravy- (vs. Brown) I'm still not sure, but you put it on biscuits.
Tomatoe: An alternate and publicly accepted spelling of "tomato."
